Flint 6K

I've been very fortunate to collaborate and work with inspiring non-profits and organizations doing incredible work near and far. That investment in local and global good is one of the things I'm proud of when I reflect on my career up to this point. So when the opportunity arose to support the Flint 6k, it was a no brainer.

The Flint 6k is a family-friendly run/walk that exists to positively impact local and global water initiatives through World Vision and the Flint Kids Fund. Last year was the inaugural event. Being at the start line, sending off the runners, and knowing the impact we are making is definitely a highlight in my work with Kennedy Co.

About the Flint 6k

The Flint 6k is part of World Vision's Global 6k for Water. There are race sites, groups, and individuals running and walking six kilometers (3.7 miles) worldwide. Why six kilometers? That is the average distance women and children walk in the developing world to access water - often unclean. Through World Vision, each registration for the 6k provides clean water to one person in the developing world for life.

Every step we take is one they won't have to.

With the help of our fellow Flint 6k event sponsors, we also made a contribution to the Flint Kids Fund, which supports programs and services that focus on the long-term health and developmental needs of Flint children.

In two years, the Flint 6k has made a $16,000 impact in local and global water initiatives. Nearly 200 people have access to clean water for the first time because of the outstanding participants of the Flint 6k. I am so proud to be involved in this event in any way, and having Kennedy Co able to support is an honor.

Fellow Flint 6k Sponsors (Check Them Out and Support Them)

Excuse me while I brag on these amazing fellow Flint 6k sponsors.

In 2019, the Flint 6k had incredible support from local Michigan businesses like Flint Crepe Company, Gaines Jewelry, Madcap Coffee, Meijer, and Skaff Carpet and Furniture. World Vision and The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation were crucial in our local impact as well. At Complete Runner, Brad Brown was instrumental and a source of wisdom and peace in everything running and events. Tenacity and The Good Beans Cafe opened up for our participants and supporters to enjoy. Peddler Doughnuts sold out in 30 minutes, Atwood Stadium opened their parking lot, and Fireside Coffee provided prize packages for our top overall runners. It was a real community event.

This year looked a little different, but some new sponsors stepped up. Along with West Flint Church of the Nazarene and the amazing folks at Pakt, Kennedy Co was able to contribute to some local businesses and the Flint Kids Fund.

Get Involved

There is still plenty of good to be done. If you want to be a part of what's happening with the Flint 6k, you can still donate through the button below:

You can sign up to run or walk for next year's race (World Vision is on the ball, y'all). Use code 6K21 for 50% off of your registration through Sunday. And remember, each person that signs up is providing clean water to one person in the developing world for life. There isn't another race like this one.

Join Kennedy Co as a sponsor for next year's event. If you're interested or have any questions, reach out through the contact form on this site.

I will always cherish the cheers and applause at the start line last year. Watching folks move through Chevy Commons and how they enjoyed Good Beans and Tenacity before and after.

This year, during a pandemic and uncertainty, you all showed up and ran and walked in your neighborhoods, parks, and treadmills. Seeing the photos come through social media and text messages was remarkable.

Let's go farther together.
